Nowon Moonlight Walk

This is a nighttime public art festival with a unique thematic focus of Nowon-gu, exhibiting lantern and light sculpture works that possess both popularity and artistic value along Danghyeoncheon, an eco-friendly stream, and planning and operating content in which residents directly participate, such as artwork production and commentary. Starting as the "Nowon Lantern Festival" in 2014 and held in the spring until 2019, the festival changed its timing to the autumn in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic with the new name "Nowon Moonlight Stroll" and the goal of "healing through art," and continues to this day. In addition to the main content of exhibiting art lanterns and light sculptures, the festival features "Resident Participation Community Art," where artists are matched with local residents to produce and exhibit works; "Moonlight Commentators," where residents act as docents to explain the artworks to visitors; and "Weekend Cultural and Artistic Performances" featuring local artists.
