Details
The Seocho-gu Outdoor Library, "Yangjae Library Embracing Yangjaecheon: A Picture Book Journey Along the Waterway," is an outdoor reading culture festival designed to allow visitors to experience books and arts and culture together in Yangjaecheon, a natural space within the city. The event will take place over a total of 10 sessions, held every Saturday and Sunday from October 10 to November 8, 2026, in the forest in front of Yangjae Library and along Yangjaecheon. Under the themes of "Relationships, Emotions, Dreams and Growth, Healing, and Nature," the festival introduces a variety of picture books each week. It features outdoor reading spaces where visitors can freely read amidst nature, as well as picture book exhibitions, hands-on programs, performances, and family participation activities. The program is designed to utilize the unique characteristics of each location—such as forest paths, lawns, the Yangjaecheon walking trail, and stair areas—to organize reading and arts and culture activities. A key feature is that it expands the traditional indoor library-centered reading experience into a natural setting. Anyone, including families with children and citizens using Yangjaecheon, can participate, and through diverse programs linking books, nature, and arts and culture, they will be able to experience reading in their daily lives.
