*The following festival food content is from the previous year (2025), and the 2026 festival food content is currently being updated.*
In Pohang, the ‘City of Fire and Light,’ the Pohang International Fireworks Festival, a representative cultural tourism festival, is held every year. The Pohang International Fireworks Festival began with a fireworks show held to commemorate Pohang Citizens’ Day in 2004, themed around the ‘light’ of industry and the ‘fire’ of hot blast furnaces, symbolizing Pohang as a world-class steel city. Since then, it has grown into an international-scale festival, showcasing various attractions including an international fireworks show featuring famous fireworks teams from around the world. Recently, moving beyond a simple fireworks-centered festival, it has been expanding diverse content that fuses industry with culture and arts, such as media facades and night parades. Furthermore, by utilizing Pohang's marine landscape and urban spaces, it is evolving into a participatory festival enjoyed by both citizens and tourists, establishing itself as a representative cultural tourism festival that enhances Pohang's city brand and night tourism competitiveness.
