Details
According to the 15th-century "Sejong Sillok Jiriji," Yangpyeong offered local products to the state, including jujubes, shiitake mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, and reishi mushrooms. Its specialties included wild mustard and angelica root. Furthermore, Yangpyeong wild greens were featured in the poem "Feeding a Scholar with Two Wild Greens from Yongmunsan Mountain" by Yu Deuk-gong, a Silhak scholar, demonstrating their exceptional flavor and aroma. The "Dongguk Yeojiji," a geography book compiled by Joseon Dynasty Silhak scholar Yu Hyeong-won, states, "Yongmunsan wild greens are the best tribute to the king." The Yangpyeong Yongmunsan Wild Greens Festival began in 2008 based on these historical records. Now in its 16th year, Yangpyeong's wild greens continue to retain their exceptional quality.
