Details
Gijisi Tug-of-War, or "Jul-of-War," is an intangible cultural heritage with a history of approximately 500 years. The Gijisi Tug-of-War Festival, held every leap year, is a representative traditional cultural event in the Gijisi-ri area of Songak-eup, Dangjin. Its legacy is rooted in the participation of local residents. Its value was recognized globally in 2015 when it was designated a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
